REGGIE NICHOLSON CONCEPT. New York/Chicago percussionist Reggie Nicholson brings his “Concept” quartet to Madison. The quartet includes fellow Chicago musicians James Perkins, tenor sax/flute; Alan Bouroughs, guitar; Darius Savage, bass with Nicholson on drums. Café CODA, 1224 Williamson St. 8pm. Tickets $20.
DIRK QUINN BAND. Dirk Quinn is the guitarist for a high energy funk/jazz band based out of Philadelphia that travels extensively throughout the US and Canada. The band includes Rory Flynn on bass and Cody Munzert, keys and organ. Presented by BlueStem Jazz. Harmony Bar and Grill, 2201 Atwood Ave. 9pm. Tickets at the door.

On May 19 beginning at 9:30 am, Westminster Presbyterian Church (4100 Nakoma Rd. Madison) invites all to celebrate with their Church Family as they welcome a trio of guest jazz musicians (piano,
string bass, and drums) from Dream City Jazz.
Dream City Jazz is an ensemble that epitomizes the vibrant tapestry of jazz music, seam-
lessly blending tradition with contemporary flair. Hailing from the heart of the Driftless
region of Wisconsin, Dream City Jazz has cultivated a sound that resonates with fans of
classic jazz while pushing the boundaries to incorporate elements of modern musical gen-
res. The repertoire ranges from timeless standards to innovative original compositions, all
delivered with the impeccable skill and passion of its members.
On this special Sunday, Dream City Jazz will be offering an extended prelude, which will begin at
9:30 a.m. Everyone welcome
DAVID HAZELTINE – BILLY PETERSON DUO REUNITED. After playing together for 45 years, Willard “Billy” Peterson (bassist) and David Hazeltine (pianist) are touring again. Peterson is one of the most celebrated bass players in the world. His uncompromising talents as a performer have brought him widespread recognition, as well as credits as a composer, arranger and producer. Hazeltine is one of the most sought-after pianists today. A brilliant teacher, David is also determined to carry the art forward to the next generation. Formerly an Associate Professor at Berklee, he currently teaches at SUNY-Purchase in New York. MIDWEST GYPSY SWING FEST PRESENTS STEPHANE WREMBEL QUARTET. Stephane Wrembel is one of the most highly regarded guitarists in the world specializing in the style of legendary composer/guitarist Django Reinhardt. Born in Fontainebleau, France, he learned his craft traveling the French countryside before graduating from Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has had a remarkable career, toured the world, while releasing 17 albums under his name and the nom de plume, The Django Experiment. The Bur Oak, 2262 Winnebago St. 7pm. Tickets $25.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT FLIX AT CAFÉ CODA. Can the middle of your week get a little bland? Come out for Café CODA’s FREE jazz documentary film series every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month, from 7:00-8:30pm, starting February 8th. Each week will be a showing of different selections of artist highlights, noteworthy trends and important musical history, and you’ll be able to enjoy the show in the company of like-minded individuals.

PAUL DIETRICH QUARTET. Paul Dietrich has been described as “an apt bandleader, an exceptional composer, and a superlative performer” (All About Jazz) and “a skilled composer” (JazzTrail) and his music has been praised as “stunningly beautiful” (Audiophile Audition) and “captivating” (Chicago Jazz Magazine). The quartet is rounded out with Matt Gold, guitar; Brian Courage, bass; Devin Drobka, drums. North Street Cabaret, 610 North St. 8pm. Tickets $20.
LA BARBARA ELECTROTANGO BAND. Julieta Iglesias is a remarkable Argentine pianist and arranger. Classically trained, with a unique style which combines expression and virtuosity. She was endorsed by the Astor Piazzolla Foundation, releasing her albums ‘Londres suena a Serú’ and ‘Astor’ plus her new Piazzolla’s arrangements launched in London. The band includes Julieta Iglesias, piano; Janice Lee, violin and Ruben Tedesco, bandoneon. North Street Cabaret, 610 North St. 8pm. Tickets $20.
TOM GULLION QUINTET.This concert is a rare opportunity to hear the Tom Gullion Quintet with all the original members playing music from their discs “Carswell” and “Time It Is.” The quintet will reunite featuring regional musicians Tom Gullion, saxes and flutes; David Cooper, trumpet; Tim Whalen, piano; Mark Urness, bass and Dane Richeson, drums. Presented by BlueStem Jazz. North Street Cabaret, 610 North St. 8pm. Tickets $20.
The Mason Lounge in collaboration w/ BlueStem Jazz Presents Tuesday Night Jazz!
The WAMI-nominated duo layers finger-style cello with catchy melodies, harmonies, and improvised saxophone to create a sound comparable to groups such as Morphine and Portis Head. Jason’s saxophone weaves in and out of verses harmonizing beautifully with Karli’s angelic voice. Their lyrics focus on self-love, reflection, and growth, leaving listeners feeling uplifted. When watching Natural Satellite perform, you can feel the chemistry between the two and the unique musical bond they share.
